CHELTENHAM NATIONAL HUNT FESTIVAL 2012: The Prestbury Suite

The 2011 Festival witnessed the dawn of a new era when the six year old Long Run, ridden by Mr Sam Waley-Cohen, defeated past champions Denman and Kauto Star in a superb Gold Cup (the first six year old to win the Gold Cup since Mill House in 1963 and the first amateur ridden winner since Jim Wilson was successful on Little Owl in 1981). The Champion Hurdle and the Queen Mother Champion Chase also heralded new Irish champions in the form of Hurricane Fly and Sizing Europe. Big Buck's completed a remarkable three timer in the World Hurdle in what was a truly memorable Festival meeting.

In 2012 Tuesday will stage 'the 'Stan James Champion Hurdle'; Wednesday, the 'sportingbet.com Queen Mother Champion Chase'; Thursday the 'Ladbrokes World Hurdle' and on Friday the most prestigious Championship race of the Festival the 'totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.'
